World Shot Put Series to kick off at Drake Relays
The 2025 Drake Relays will feature the inaugural World Shot Put Series event, introducing a revamped format, emphasizing a faster-pace with minimal measuring. The format is dubbed ‘King of the Ring’ in which throwers must make it past a designated mark in two back-to-back throws in order to advance to the next round, with each subsequent round requiring a longer throw. Placement will be determined by the furthest line cleared with ties broken by the total of all misses by each competitor. Spectators can attend the WSPS for free during the Drake Relays week, with specific details on timing and broadcasting to be announced. Ryan Crouser is among the elite throwers set to participate.
Coe stays committed to World Athletics
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the sport despite his recent defeat in the International Olympic Committee presidential election. Coe emphasized his dedication to growing the sport and highlighted the importance of expanding athletics' presence, particularly in Asian markets. He remains focused on enhancing the global appeal and reach of athletics in the coming years.
Ingebrigtsen testifies against father
Gjert Ingebrigtsen is on trial for allegedly abusing two of his children: Jakob Ingebrigtsen and his sister Ingrid. Jakob, who was coached by Gjert through the Tokyo Olympics, testified about childhood marked by fear and manipulation, citing incidents of physical violence and control over personal relationships. Gjert denies the allegations, though if found guilty, could face up to six years in prison.

He finished the run in 3 days, 22 hours, and 4 minutes—beating the previous record set in 2022 by 45 minutes.
