World Athletics to Introduce Mandatory Genetic Testing

World Athletics to introduce mandatory genetic testing

World Athletics has announced that all female athletes must undergo a one-time, non-invasive genetic test, such as a cheek swab or dry blood spot test, to confirm their eligibility for women's competitions. This measure aims to identify the presence of the SRY gene, typically found on the Y chromosome, which indicates the male sex. The organization is currently in the process of drafting the regulations and selecting a testing provider, with the potential implementation of these tests before the World Championships in Tokyo this September.

Ukraine condemns IOC’s consideration of reinstating Russian Federation

The Ukrainian World Congress has condemned the International Olympic Committee's intention to discuss reinstating Russia in the Olympic Games, citing Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine and the atrocities committed. The UWC argues that allowing Russian athletes back into the global sporting arena would serve as a propaganda victory for the Kremlin and undermine the principles of justice and peace that the Olympics represent. They urge the IOC and its member states to reject any move to reinstate Russia.

Road to TrackTown season 3 to debut on April 29

TrackTownUSA has announced the return of their series Road to TrackTown, with the upcoming third season set to debut on April 29. The season will feature Heather MacLean, Jasmine Moore, Masai Russell, and LauLauga Tausaga. Each season of the series has followed four athletes as they prepare for the USA Championships, which in the previous two editions were the Trials events for the 2023 World Championships and 2024 Paris Olympics.

Gabby Thomas announces her engagement
