Keely Hodgkinson eyeing indoor 800m World Record in 2025
The gold medalist from the Paris Olympics has big plans for the indoor season. She will be hosting the inaugural Keely Klassic on February 15 in Birmingham, England, and on that night, is also planning to make an attempt on the indoor world record in her marquee event. The current record is held by Jolanda Čeplak with a time of 1:55.82, set on March 3, 2002, the same day Hodgkinson was born.
Trayvon Bromell fully committed to indoors in return from injury
We have not seen Bromell on the track since pulling up with an injury in a 100m contest at an outdoor meeting in Savona last summer. He recently announced on Instagram, “I haven’t taken indoors seriously since 2016. My goal is to make this team and bring back another title!” In the 2016 season, Bromell won gold in the 60m at the World Indoor Championships.
The Bowerman Presentation is scheduled for Thursday evening
Collegiate track and field’s biggest honor, The Bowerman, is scheduled to hold its presentation ceremony on Thursday, December 19. Finalists for the award are Maia Ramsden (Harvard), Jaida Ross (Oregon), and Parker Valby (Florida) for the women, and Caleb Dean (Texas Tech), Christopher Morales Williams (Georgia), and Leo Neugebauer (Texas) for the men. The presentation will begin at 7pm ET and is available to watch free on RunnerSpace.
Katie Moon and Daniel Roberts confirmed for Millrose Games
In addition to the recent announcements of Cole Hocker, Masai Russell, and Grant Fisher, yesterday organizers announced that Katie Moon (pole vault) and Daniel Roberts (60m hurdles) would be joining the growing list of elite competitors taking to the Armory on February 8. Moon and Roberts both brought home silver medals from the Olympic Games in Paris this past summer.
Ben Rosario rebooting The Marathon Project
Rosario, former executive director of HOKA Northern Arizona Elite, is relaunching The Marathon Project, an elite-only road race originally held in 2020, as a multi-race festival for elite and recreational runners on December 20-21, 2025, in Chandler, AZ. The 2025 edition will include a Gold Wave Marathon for top recreational runners, an open 5K race, and a professional marathon aiming to attract the fastest fields in the US. Rosario aims to recreate the success of the 2020 event, where numerous personal bests were set, and elevate the experience with improved amenities and a lightning-fast course.
