Josh Kerr and Yared Nuguse set for Wanamaker Mile

Millrose Games organizers announced that Kerr and Nuguse will face off in the Wanamaker Mile on February 8. This will be only the second time they have gone head-to-head in the mile, with Kerr holding the lone victory at the distance from last year’s Prefontaine Classic, however Nuguse has bested Kerr in three of their five meetings across 1500m. Adding to the intrigue, Nuguse is the event’s two-time returning champion and also holds the meeting record of 3:47.38 (2023).

Kishane Thompson, Andre de Grasse to face off at Astana meet

Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson, who secured a silver medal in the 100m at the Paris Games, is set to make his indoor debut in the 60m at the Astana Indoor Meet in Kazakhstan on January 25 . Though he has not previously raced indoors, Thompson holds a 60m best of 6.67 seconds from an outdoor meeting in 2022. Also competing is Canada's Andre De Grasse, the Tokyo Olympic 200m champion, who has a 60m personal best of 6.62 seconds from last year’s Millrose Games.

Alex Kemp, freshman DIII runner for Williams College, passed away following a skiing accident

Kemp, a 19-year-old Williams College student, died following a skiing accident at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Massachusetts. He was a promising member of the college’s track and cross country teams, having finished as the top freshman at the DIII NCAA Cross Country Championships, and contributed to a team victory at the NESCAC Cross Country Championship in early November. Our condolences are with his family and loved ones.

Alex Yee to contest the London Marathon

Alex Yee, a 26-year-old British triathlete and Olympic gold medalist, is set to compete in the London Marathon on April 13. Yee, who secured individual silver and mixed relay gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, followed by individual gold and mixed relay bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympics, aims to complete the marathon in under 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Elle Purrier-St. Pierre and Rachel Smith both expecting baby number two

In recent announcements, St. Pierre and Smith shared that they are each expecting their second baby in the first half of 2025. Smith has an anticipated due date in April, and St. Pierre in May. Both have represented the United States at Olympic Games, with Smith competing in the 5000m in Tokyo and St. Pierre in the 1500m in Tokyo and Paris.
