Jane Hedengren sets 5k record at Nike Indoors

At the Nike Indoor Nationals on Thursday, Jane Hedengren set a new high school national indoor 5000m record with a time of 15:13.26, breaking the previous mark of 15:28.90 set by Elizabeth Leachman last year. She also established a new American U20 indoor record, ranking 13th among U.S. women this year. Rylee Blade, who finished second in 15:16.72, was also under the old record. This performance adds to Hedengren's outstanding season, which includes a high school all-time best in the 3200m (9:37.50).

Full fields set for Kingston Slam

Grand Slam Track has announced the complete lineup of 96 athletes—48 Racers and 48 Challengers—from 22 countries for the inaugural Kingston Slam, scheduled from April 4–6, at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. Notable Challengers include Grace Stark, Dalilah Muhammad, Ackeem Blake, Favour Ofili, and Dominic Lobalu, who will compete alongside established Racers such as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, Fred Kerley, and Josh Kerr. The event will be broadcast live on Peacock in the US, with The CW providing weekend coverage; international viewers can tune in via TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland, and Eurosport across Europe and Asia.

American Athletic Conference to require member schools provide $10 million in benefits to student athletes

The American Athletic Conference (AAC) has mandated that, over the next three years, each member institution—excluding Army and Navy—must allocate at least $10 million in additional benefits to their student-athletes. This decision aligns with the broader movement in college athletics toward revenue sharing, as evidenced by the NCAA's recent $2.78 billion settlement permitting schools to distribute funds directly to athletes. The AAC considers new scholarships, payments for academic-related expenses, and direct payments as added benefits.

IOC and NBCUniversal agree to terms through 2036

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Comcast NBCUniversal have extended their Olympic media rights agreement in the United States through 2036, with a deal valued at $3 billion. This partnership encompasses the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and the 2036 Summer Olympics, whose host city is yet to be determined. Beyond broadcasting rights, the agreement designates Comcast NBCUniversal as a strategic partner, involving collaborations on technological infrastructure and digital advertising to enhance the Olympic experience in the evolving digital landscape.
