Lyles and Hill agree on a distance
After much anticipation and discussion, the highly awaited race between Olympic sprint champion Noah Lyles and NFL star Tyreek Hill has been officially set for a distance of 60 meters. Lyles confirmed this decision in a recent Instagram post, stating, "It will be a 60 meters. So it will be a track race." This distance strikes a balance between Hill's preference for shorter sprints, akin to the NFL's 40-yard dash, and Lyles' expertise in longer sprints like the 100 meters. The event is expected to take place in the spring or summer of 2025, prior to the U.S. Championships in July.
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has unveiled its strategic plan, "Game Plan 2029," outlining the organization's goals and priorities through 2029. Central to this plan is a re-envisioned mission statement: "We champion athletes to achieve their dreams in a fair and healthy way and to inspire the world." The plan emphasizes core values such as promoting integrity, leading with courage, building trust and teamwork, and inspiring respect and responsibility.
Kara and Des launch Save the 10000
Des Linden and Kara Goucher have launched the "Save the 10,000 with Des & Kara" event, scheduled for May 3 at Mt. SAC in California. This initiative aims to provide a vital platform for athletes to compete in the 10,000-meter distance, which has seen a decline in competitive opportunities in recent years. The event will feature two elite races—one for men and one for women—each limited to 30 participants. A total prize purse of $25,000 is up for grabs, with $5,000 to each winner.
