Conference championship weekend for NCAA indoors is here

The NCAA indoor track and field conference championships are upon us and are scheduled to run through the weekend. These championships serve as a precursor to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for March 14–15, 2025 in Virginia Beach. A preview of key matchups, as well as a rundown of how to watch your favorite conference’s championship meet is available via NCAA.

Grand Slam Track announces latest round of Challengers

Grand Slam Track has announced four additional elite challengers for its inaugural Slam, scheduled for April 4–6 in Kingston, Jamaica. The newly confirmed athletes are Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the 2024 Olympic 800m champion; Dina Asher-Smith, a three-time Olympic medalist and 2019 World Champion in the 200m; Bryce Hoppel, the 2024 World Indoor 800m champion and American record holder; and Jacious Sears, who holds the second-fastest 100m time in NCAA history and is the current world leader in the 60m.

Amy Acuff selected to USTFCCCA Hall of Fame

Five-time Olympian Amy Acuff has been selected for induction into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. During her tenure at UCLA from 1994 to 1997, Acuff secured five NCAA high jump titles—three indoor and two outdoor—and became the first woman in Pac-10 history to win the high jump title four consecutive years. Her induction ceremony is scheduled for June 8 in Eugene, Oregon, preceding the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Fields announced for Sound Running’s The TEN

The TEN, an annual festival featuring high level 10,000 meter races on the track, is scheduled for March 29. They have once again announced an impressive lineup of elite distance runners, including Elise Cranny, Parker Valby, Weini Kelati, Laura Galvan, Lemlem Hailu, and Dom Scott for the women, with Graham Blanks, Joe Klecker, Adrian Wildschutt, Drew Hunter, and Habtom Samuel featured on the men’s side. Russian delegation eying return to Olympics

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has initiated preliminary discussions with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reinstate Russian athletes into international competitions, following their suspension due to the invasion of Ukraine. This move coincides with the resignation of ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov, who cited "geopolitical challenges" facing Russian sports, and the potential appointment of Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev as his successor. The ROC aims to restore the rights of its athletes and reestablish Russia's position within the Olympic movement amid the ongoing transition in IOC leadership.
